Virtual Law Office

The Virtual Law Office is the infrastructure for an online legal community that could be used to unite a state’s or a state agency’s workforce in one location in cyberspace.

Description:

The VLO offers Executive Department lawyers a secure website that provides a rich set of features:

1) A database of contact and background information for all Executive Department lawyers, including a skill inventory; 2) A document library in which they can make their legal forms and other documents available to the Executive Department legal community;

3) Home pages for the legal subject matter practice groups to which Executive Department lawyers belong;

4) The ability to register online for Continuing Legal Education offered by the Executive Department;

5) A calendar of Executive Department events;

6) A discussion forum (chatroom) for online discussions;

7) A bulletin board;

8) Online forms related to the statutorily required process that Commonwealth of Massachusetts agencies must use to obtain outside counsel;

9) A security system.

This application will be of interest to Managers of public sector legal staffs.
